Biography:

Moody is gruff, paranoid, always on the lookout for assassins and dark wizards. He takes the fight against dark wizards very seriously, always emphasizes the need for constant vigilance. Moody is fiercely loyal to the Aurors or gives all appearances of being so. Whatever duty he takes on, he uses everything in his power to finish it. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty, willing to use the dark wizard’s methods against them. However he won't stoop to use the Unforgivable Curses, to him that will be letting the dark wizard win. He won’t use the cruelest methods if other paths are available but he won’t refuse to do it, if nothing else presents itself.

After the death of Albus Dumbledore Moody worked even harder to track down dark wizards, especially Death Eaters. He especially wanted to get his hands on Severus Snape but so far Snape eluded him. However, Moody did loose aurors who he sent after Snape. As the Dark Lord was still at large, Moody couldn’t put as much manpower or personal effort into tracking only a single Death Eater, instead he continued his work for the Order of the Phoenix and assisted in keeping tabs on Voldemort and thwarting him at every given time.

When the Dark Lord was finally defeated by Harry Potter and friends, Mad-eye contemplated returning to retirement. He certainly had a hard life and hunted down more than his fair share of dark wizards and witches. Retirement seemed like a good plan for him. With Voldemort defeated, the remaining Death Eaters were scattered, easy to round up. He helped capture many who had escaped when Voldemort regained his powers and was pleased they were once more behind beard, especially Lucius Malfoy.

Moody was starting to once again enjoy retirement when another disaster happened. All the death eaters currently in Azkaban escaped killing many guards and nearly all the aurors who were stationed in Azkaban. Again these murdering dark wizards were on the loose and the aurors weakened by the loss of several members, some were even seasoned veterans.

For the second time Alestor found himself being asked to come out of retirement and help with the hunt to stop the death eaters who escaped Azkaban as well as others still at large. The last thing Alestor wanted was returning to active duty but since so few aurors are trained each year, he understood the need for his expertise. In fact the last two aurors to be fully trained were none other than two former students of his, or at least the imposters former students. Alestor felt both Harry and Ron will make great aurors, even if he wasn’t the one who taught them DADA during their 4th year at Hogwarts. But he had plenty of opportunities since then to see both boys were fine lads. Probably the only thing he could agree with the imposter Barty Grouch jr. was both Harry and Ron had what it took to be a great auror.

Returned to active duty, Alestor worked with his fellow aurors on tracking down the escaped Death Eaters. For the most part, he decided to take a more administrative role, letting the younger more physical fit aurors do the field work. He was always available to provide backup if things looked tough. Using the method of communication used in The Order of the Phoenix, especially with those aurors who were in fact part of the Order, Alestor keep tabs on assignments.
